Welcome to Year 1!

Your teacher is: Miss Davis. Your teaching assistant is Mrs Dickinson. During the Autumn term in History we are exploring the history of toys where we will have the opportunity to play with toys from the past. In Science we are learning abou the human body, partiulary what we use different body parts for. In ICT we are learning how to keep ourselves safe online and what different devices are used for. In Art the children will be creating their own teddy bear pictures and in DT the children will be following a recipe to make their own fruit salad. Our Phonics lessons this half term will be focussing on alternative spellings of sounds that the children already know. In Literacy we will explore a variety of texts, writing sentences that help children parctise using a capital letter, full stop and a finger space. In June 2025, Y1 children will sit the National Phonics Screening Test. You will receive information regarding this throughout the year but please do not worry; your child will be prepared and familiar with the test. Please click the social stream link to receive frequent updates on your child's learning!
