Hello everyone,
It’s been a packed week in school this week with lots of different events taking place.
‘Always’ Children: Gracjan, Harry, Isabelle, Sandris, Evan & Freddy
Good Achievers: Skye, Molly, Ellie-Lee, Makenzie, Travis, Kadie & Grace
Our attendance winners this week were Marvellous Meerkats for Key Stage 1 and Unique Unicorns for Key Stage 2
Team Activ Cricket Competitions
On Tuesday two groups- one of Year 5 girls and one of boys took part in Team Activ cricket tournaments down at Shaw Lane and performed well. Although they did not go through to the final, they enjoyed the experience and took a lot away from it.
Penalty Shoot Out
Tuesday saw the penalty shoot-out taking place on the field. This was run, as always, by Barnsley FC Football in the Community and saw all the children attempt to take 5 penalties. It is always a fun day and the monies raised will be shared equally between the school and FiC. Please can any parents and carers ensure that any sponsor money and forms are returned to school as soon as possible.
Enterprise Challenge
On Wednesday, our Year 4s were lucky enough to take part in an Enterprise Challenge run by Paul Robson of the Primary School Enterprise Challenge. It was a fantastic day with loads of wonderful suggestions from our teams. Two lucky teams were lucky enough to be chosen to go through to the final at Tanksersley Manor on Monday where they will pitch their designs to a panel of judges along with those from other schools. We wish them lots of luck!
E-Safety Week
It has been an important week this week, with all classes working hard on projects relating to E safety all through the week. This will be all gathered together for an assembly on Friday afternoon. Please keep talking to your children about staying safe online.
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
What an amazing performance from M and M Theatre Productions yesterday. They delivered two performances of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe to the whole school and how enchanting it was. It was great to sit in with KS1 and FS and see them transported to Narnia. There were cheers when Peter was brought back to life and the evil queen got her comeuppance!
Collaboration Cups
On Thursday, was the first annual girls’ collaboration cup held at Barnsley College. Well done to our team who worked hard together and performed brilliantly winning their first four matches. They got knocked out in the semi-finals but did the school proud on a lovely day. Annie and Destiny were our players of the tournament.
The boys’ teams also enjoyed their day today. At the time of writing they are still taking part so I can’t let you know how the team performed but will update next week.
Joseph Locke’s Got Talent
We have reached the audition stage in our annual talent show. Next week, at lunchtime, all those children who stated they wanted to enter the competition wlil be auditioning in front of Miss Joannou. The winners will go through to the grand final on the afternoon of Monday, 2nd July.
JLo Choir Performance
Next Thursday evening our choir are taking part in the Primary Vocal Festival at Barnsley Metrodome. A reminder that those children taking part will need a packed tea as we are walking down to the Metrodome from school. Parents can buy tickets on the door and the concert starts at 5.45pm.
3RL Class Assembly
Mrs Lang’s class assembly will take place on Friday 22nd June, where the class will showcase their learning over the term. The assembly will be held in the hall and will begin at 2.45pm.
Our annual summer fayre will be taking place on the afternoon of 29th June. Each class will be producing goods to sell at the event during Enterprise Week. There will be others stalls too as well as refreshments, including our first ever JLo barbecue! We hope to see plenty of families there to join in the fun. If anyone has any bottles for our bottle tombola; chocolates or sweets for a chocolate tombola or unwanted soft toys please bring them into school where they can be put to good use. Thank you
